Kenya (/ˈkɛnjə/; locally [ˈkɛɲa]), officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in Africa and a founding member of the East African Community (EAC). Its capital and largest city is Nairobi. Kenya's territory lies on the equator and overlies the East African Rift covering a diverse and expansive terrain that extends roughly from Lake Victoria to Lake Turkana (formerly called Lake Rudolf) and further south-east to the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. Kenya covers 581,309 km2 (224,445 sq mi), and had a population of approximately 45 million people in July 2014.
Kenya has a warm and humid tropical climate on its Indian Ocean coastline. The climate is cooler in the savannah grasslands around the capital city, Nairobi, and especially closer to Mount Kenya, which has snow permanently on its peaks. Further inland, in the Nyanza region, there is a hot and dry climate which becomes humid around Lake Victoria, the largest tropical fresh-water lake in the world. This gives way to temperate and forested hilly areas in the neighboring western region. The north-eastern regions along the border with Somalia and Ethiopia are arid and semi-arid areas with near-desert landscapes. Kenya is known for its safaris, diverse climate and geography, and expansive wildlife reserves and national parks such as the East and West Tsavo National Park, the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Aberdares National Park. Kenya has several world heritage sites such as Lamu and numerous beaches, including in Diani, Bamburi and Kilifi, where international yachting competitions are held every year.
Press Conference was a public-affairs television series aired in the United States in the mid-1950s.
Press Conference was similar in format and content to the long-running Meet the Press and was moderated by one of that program's creators, pioneering female journalist Martha Rountree. On the program, a current newsmaker, generally but not always a politician, was questioned by a panel of newspersons in a typical press conference format. As usually done in a traditional press conference, the subject was allowed to make an opening statement (although not all chose to do so) prior to fielding questions.
Press Conference was launched on NBC in July 1956, but that fall moved to ABC. Initially shown in prime time, the program drew only a minimal, public-affairs oriented audience running against two high-profile Sunday night variety series, The Ed Sullivan Show on CBS and The Steve Allen Show on NBC; however, its appearance helped ABC to meet the public-interest requirements imposed on U.S broadcasters by the Federal Communications Commission. Press Conference was moved to Sunday afternoon for three months in early 1957, prior to returning to prime time in April of that year under a new title, Martha Rountree's Press Conference. The program ended in July 1957.
Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta (/uhʊrʊ-keɪnjɑːtɑː/; born 26 October 1961) is the 4th and current President of Kenya, in office since 2013. He is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president, and his fourth wife Ngina Kenyatta.
Uhuru Kenyatta was elected president of Kenya under The National Alliance (TNA), which was part of the Jubilee Alliance with his running mate William Ruto's United Republican Party (URP). Uhuru and Ruto won 50.07% of votes cast, with closest rivals, Raila Odinga and running mate Kalonzo Musyoka of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy garnering 42%. Raila disputed the election results at the Supreme Court which however held (7–0) that the elections were free and fair. Uhuru Kenyatta was therefore sworn in as President on 9 April 2013.
Kenyatta is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's founding father and first president (1964–1978). His family hails from the Kikuyu, a Bantu ethnic group. His given name "Uhuru" is from the Swahili term for "freedom", and was given to him in anticipation of Kenya's upcoming independence. Uhuru attended St Mary's School in Nairobi. Between 1979 and 1980, he also briefly worked as a teller at the Kenya Commercial Bank.

Raila Amolo Odinga (born 7 January 1945), also popularly known to his supporters as Agwambo (meaning the "Mysterious One"), Tinga, Baba, RAO, and Jakom ("Chairman") is a Kenyan politician. He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Langata in 1992, served as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005. He was the main opposition candidate in the 2007 presidential election. Following a violent post-electoral crisis, Odinga took office as Prime Minister in April 2008, serving as supervisor and coordinator of a national unity coalition government. He came in second in Kenya's 2013 presidential elections after garnering 5,340,546 votes which represented 43.28% of the total votes cast. Son of first Vice President of Kenya, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the family's origin in Kenya's Luo tribe has been a key to their political activity. Raila is commonly known by his first name due to coincidence: he was an MP at the same time as his father between 1992 and 1994. In Raila Odinga was a presidential contender in the 1997 elections, coming third after President Daniel arap Moi of KANU and Mwai Kibaki, the former president of Kenya and then a member of the Democratic Party. Odinga campaigned to run for president in the December 2007 elections on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

The Jubilee administration has not shied away from showing its dislike for the free media. The current shutdown of KTN News, NTV, citizen and Inooro television is not the first under Jubilee. In 2015, the targeted media houses were viciously fought and had to switch off in a standoff with thE communication Authority of Kenya during the controversial digital migration. This time round, the government crackdown has been followed by a desire to arrest journalists for the Tuesday live coverage of the swearing in of national super alliance leader Raila Odinga as people’s president. If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element. Travel video about destination Nairobi in Kenya. Nairobi is Kenya's busy, expensive yet dangerous capital city. It is also both fascinating and modern. Nairobi is the country's most important and beautiful city and with the finest temperate climate between Johannesburg and Cairo, is located at an altitude of almost 1,700 metres above sea level. The government district of City Square contains the Conference Centre and the Kanu Tower, the headquarters of government and the city's tallest building. Canons guard the main entrance to the National Museum that is situated on Museum Hill, a fascinating building that covers much of Kenya's culture and history. The museum provides an interesting insight into Pre-history as well as to various cultures and the country's flora and fauna. Directly i...
Kenya, with its numerous natural wonders gives a tourist the joy of a seaside holiday and the thrills of a safari. One can sit in the shade of a palm tree and swim in the emerald green water of the Indian Ocean, which runs out to the white, sandy beaches. We can take a look at Mombasa, most important port of Eastern Africa, the city of the Tusk Gate and the Jesus Fort. How about a typical African safari to Tsavo? Naturally, in the meantime we can meet elephants, lions, giraffes and dolphins. We can marvel at the 13th century city of Gedi. We can take a boat trip among the coral reefs of the sea national parks, or be amazed by the war dance of the Masai people, and can have a dinner at a coral cave.

Malaika is a swahili song. Malaika generally means angel in Swahili. As is the case with many Swahili words, it is ultimately derived from Arabic. An alternative Swahili meaning is a "baby" or "small child", This traditional version of the song titled Malaika being commonly used as a lullaby throughout East Africa. Of the better known song versions is possibly the most famous love song in Kenyan pop music, as well as being one of the most widely known of all Swahili songs. Authorship of the popular song is usually credited to Kenyan musician Fadhili William, but this is disputed in any case, William was the first to record the song, together with his band the Jambo Boys, in 1960. It was later re-recorded at Equator Sound Studios by the British-born Kenyan music promoter Charles Worrod, who...

The United States government through its envoy to Kenya Robert Godec has intensified calls for the Kenyan opposition to abandon its planned January 30th swearing-in ceremony to allow for dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp. But as our political affairs reporter Murimi Mwangi now tells us, a meeting between Godec and the opposition’s parliamentary leadership at the Senate and the national assembly appears to have borne little fruit, as NASA insists it will go ahead with swearing in plans, as Kenyatta’s camp has not shown any goodwill to dialogue.
